I signed up for a 6pm yoga class at YogaSpa in Elmsford, NY through ClassPass The location from my home was just about 15 minutes, so I left the house at 515, just to be sure. I drove around in circles for 20 minutes searching for the location. I tried my phone GPS and my car GPS. I had no luck. I called YogaSpa and was greeted. I explained I had driven around and was terribly sorry, but since class had started (it was now 6), I wouldn't be making it and wanted to see if my ClassPass could be returned to try again before the month ends.
The woman who answered the phone was extremely rude stating: "How did class start yet if I am answering the phone?" as if I should know the same woman teaching the class would be the receptionist when I've never been there before. I, at that point, was heading in the direction home. She was persisting that I find the place, but I didn't want to come in 10 min late to a place I've never been.
While she did say it "shouldn't be a problem" to get my ClassPass back, it didn't sound like she really cared or was being genuine. I definitely won't be trying YogaSpa just from the energy that I experienced over the phone. Namaste to that woman who answered the phone. You definitely need to continue to practice away your bad attitude to new customers!

I love this place! I started coming about a year ago with a groupon and the people here made it impossible for me to stop. The instructors are extremely knowledgeable. They are motivating, compassionate and just fun to be around. (Renee and Jacqui are my favorites) The community is also really strong. I honestly feel if I don't make a class I'll be missing something and I'll be missed. Try the Friday 6PM class to get your mind right for the weekend. :-)

Really did not enjoy this place. First of all, hard to find. Second and very importantly, it's helpful to know when you're taking a hot yoga class vs a regular yoga class. Not sure this place has regular yoga. Showed up for an open vinyasa flow class and was very disappointed in how insanely hot it was. Third, the classes are also very undisciplined here. Folks were off doing their own poses not following the instructor.
The music was loud so people in the back couldn't hear. Nothing about the class I took was peaceful or relaxing. Classes like this is how people end up hurt doing yoga. Really nice people - but definitely not the studio for everyone.

I leave the studio feeling and strong and beautiful. Five months ago, I was new to hot yoga and a bit apprehensive about a new environment and practice. Jacqui. along with her well chosen instructors, are intuitive with an ability to dial in to each students needs. All the instructors, with their individual styles, are physically and emotionally supportive.
You may want to try different instructors to find the perfect fit for you. When I leave Yoga Spa I feel I have done great things for my body and spirit. I feel nurtured. I tell everyone deserving of good advise. Yoga Spa is a find. Must try it!

Heated yoga is not for everyone, but this is the place for you if you like it hot! I've had a great year in this studio as a first timer with heated yoga. The instructors are really good and the added music, in most of the classes makes it a great work out. It's not real Bikram, as they do not follow all the strict guidelines of that practice, but I am not a big fan of Bikram anyway.
Best teacher for newbies would be Elizabeth. And for those advanced or simply needing a fast paced type of calmness, it would be Renee's vinyasa 2 or Jackie's class. Amazing teachers. As for the studio itself, the floors are now much better (not carpet) which probably decreases the odors. But yes there is an odor, especially right after a previous class.
The dressing room has two showers and yes it will be cramped. The peeps in this studio are friendly and there is a feel of community in this studio. I took one star off as, they usually never start on time and people do leave or enter the room during a class.

I've taken 4 classes from this studio and managed to get 2 teachers twice. I'm primarily a Bikram yogi, so I was excited to see on the bio page that their instructor "Jimmy" managed the Bikram studio at North Beach in San Francisco; Bikram Choudhury's first yoga studio in the U.S. But twice I tried to attend his class and twice he was substituted by someone who was not a certified Bikram teacher.
I don't want to ding the rating of the studio too much on a substitute, but 70% humidity at 105+ degrees was beyond what most students could handle and in both classes, the majority of the students left early. I didn't know what was the normal temp/humidity for the studio, but when more than 3/4 of the class walks out, they're not getting what they're paying for.
I stayed in because I'm stubborn, but I really slacked off. Despite it being called a "Bikram" class, the order of the 26 postures was not followed; hopefully the regular instructors follow the script better. The other classes I took was a hot vinyasa class by Bryony. I liked the temperature there much better and even though I did not know all the postures, I was guided through them and corrected when needed. Bryony has a pleasant rhythm and walks around to check on everyone's progress.
The studio has a women's and men's restroom with a shower. There are no lockers for your things, so don't bring in anything too valuable (even though this is a very quiet and safe area). Water and liquids are for sale, towels and yoga mats are available for rent, though first timers get a complimentary loaner set. It's a bit hard to find since the studio is at the side of a building, on a main road but in a section where the driver can only enter the lot from one direction.

The Bikram class with Jimmy was fantastic. He gave great instruction, while entertaining the class at the same time. Really enjoyed his class. The staff is very friendly. The reason for the two stars is mostly due to the smell throughout the studio, especially the hot room. The overwhelming smell of stale, hot and sweaty air as soon as you walk into the studio is really a turnoff.
The smell of the rug in the hot room is even worse. I can't even describe in words what your hand, mat or towel will smell like if it touches the rug. I'd take a class from Jimmy again, but the smell of the studio is one of the worst I've ever experienced in a hot yoga studio.
