The physical examination used in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine focuses on the tongue and pulse of the animal to obtain a pattern. There is one normal pulse and 15 abnormal pulses commonly seen in animals. The tongue shape, color and moisture is also assessed. The animal is then palpated for sensitivities along the meridians and for temperature of the body, ears and limbs.
These owners attained quality of life for their pets beyond what can be achieved using only manufactured drugs for treating symptoms. The Holistic Veterinary Center has been a gift for our 12-year-old yellow lab, Yogi! We first brought him to see Dr. Scerba when he was 7, and we were looking at a daunting scenario of potential surgery, with skin grafting & a long period of inactivity as recovery, for a skin growth that had gotten out of control!

This vet. practice is run by a woman who is unpleasant. She charges extra if you use a credit card, offers only a $25 discount if you take a second pet there, and charges a lot for the first visit --$350. Her knowledge of good nutrition for pets is poor and she is still doing curbside pick-up of pets for their appointments. Many vets offer acupuncture these days, so don't feel obligated to go only to her.
