Caring for someone at the end-of-life takes a truly unique and compassionate person. At Alternative Hospice, our volunteers play an extremely important role in our patients' hospice journeys. Whether you choose to work directly with patients and families, or volunteer to help in other ways, you can make a difference in someone's life.

Bereavement Report

When someone you love dies, allowing yourself to mourn is a natural way to express your grief. Mourning brings healing, and healing requires the support and understanding of others as you journey for the knowledge of how to embrace the pain of your loss. At Alternative Hospice, we want to aid you in this healing process.

Complementary Therapy Report

At Alternative Hospice, we provide more than conventional end-of-life healthcare. Many of our team members are experienced, licensed, and/or certified in complementary care techniques, creating an atmosphere of warmth and peace around those with a life-limiting illness. With massage therapy, a certified professional manipulates, presses, or rubs the soft tissues of the body, such as the skin, muscles, tendons, and ligaments to help relieve stress and pain.Bodywork may involve some forms of massage therapy techniques, but there are also other forms of touch therapy that could be used.

Education & Resources Report

Prior to starting or at the beginning of hospice care, it is important to make your wishes known to family and caregivers, and ensure care decisions are being made based around what you desire in the event you are unable to speak for yourself. At Alternative Hospice, we also want to support your family and loved ones through such an emotional journey.
