I am so happy to be back at Blaze and a part of such an awesome community. The team is amazing, they share so much knowledge and body positive messaging; it always makes me feel included and motivated. I missed the workouts and have loved trying some new classes in recent weeks. Thanks for all you do Team Blaze!

The Blaze teachers and community are very welcoming. The classes offered are diverse, challenging and upbeat. After class, I always feel refreshed. Any heavy stress felt throughout the day, melts away. I highly recommend giving Blaze a try. Not only will you feel great, you will likely meet a friend or two at class. If you are not into an in-person experience, the Blaze online (at home) classes are also fun and very effective.

Blaze previously stood for tolerance, questioning the "status-quo, " open-mindedness, freedom of movement & positive energy. It is now the exact opposite of this. They've turned into materialistic (refused to refund me close to $200), intolerant of opposing views (& unwilling to discuss them), Big Pharma & Big Government-loving, negative energy & discriminatory place.
There is no more "express yourself!" or love of individuality. If you don't fall in line, get injected, cover your face, get tested every week.then you're not welcome there. I'm so disappointed in this once-strong & unique place. What happened to My Body, My Choice? What happened to questioning authority? Blaze used to be edgy, smart & fun. Now it's a stifling regurgitation of unscientific & moronic rules which are lining the pockets of the pharmaceutical companies. So sad.

Not only are the yoga and Pilates classes fun and as challenging as you make them. Staff is kind, well trained and brilliantly in tune with all of us! Blaze is more than a place to work out! It is a compassionate community where everyone is welcome! I feel like I am at home with family when I enter the hot room!

My husband and I have been traveling to Blaze Studio for classes for 15 years! It's a 30 minute drive to the Studio and 30 miles back home. Could we find another place to do yoga or Pilates that's closer to home? Sure! But we wouldn't think of going any place else! We love Blaze; the classes, the teachers, the owners, the atmosphere. We love the expertise, the intense care for the community and the acceptance of any and all. Blaze is a blessing to a lot of people. It's a huge part of our lives and we're so thankful that Blaze has continued to flourish. If you come to the studio for a few classes, you will understand.

Blaze Yoga and Pilates has changed my life. The physical workout is challenging, tough and effective but the self awareness and peace that it has brought to my life is indescribable. This community is like nothing I've ever experienced before. The support, respect and inclusiveness of this community is remarkable and is a direct reflection of the values of the owners. I'm so grateful for this practice and the friends I have made here along the way.

Blaze Yoga and Pilates has transformed my life! Instead of dreading a workout I now look forward to them and love planning my week on Sunday evenings! The staff is not only knowledgeable but caring, fun and engaging. They know you by name and even notice when you haven't been in for a few days. It is an amazing community that I am so grateful to be a part of!
My one piece of advice to anyone even the slightest bit interested in coming to a class is: what are you waiting for?! Drink a lot of H20 prior to class and come have some fun! Thank you Blaze for everything that you do!

Hello, almost 60, new to Yoga of any kind. WAS HOT YOGA FOR ME? I did a trial last year at Blaze Yoga.wow. first class, my arms hurt, i felt dizzy, almost threw up.was NOT going to come back. But the Yogi? Kim, spoke to me.encouraged me to come back.told me it would be different, said, listen to your body. Well, I came back! And m still coming back.
I joined up! I try to go 2-3 days a week. No, I can't do all the moves perfectly, but neither can anyone else. I feel better each day, my joints don't hurt near as much, i am a much happier person. For newbies: Beautiful studio - cork floors are really nice on your feet, Mirrored Wall, nice natural Lighting-Large windows & No one looking at you from outside. 3 Nice Showers with Shampoo, Conditioner & Body Wash, in case you forget yours.
I have no trouble going to early class, showering & getting to work on time. Everyone is really nice and I did not feel body conscious, even though i was the chubbiest(lol) one there. They have Gear to rent if you forget yours, or just want to try before you buy.i encourage you to try! Bring water bottle, mat & towel.do NOT wear cotton clothing.enjoy!

45 days ago I showed up for Father's Day and walked into this studio with the intentions of doing a few classes and heading back to San Diego where I live and work. Today I am considering moving back to the seacoast because of elderly parents, 2 brothers, 2 sister in laws, 4 nephews and 2 nieces and the new family I have met at Bikram (hot yoga) Portsmouth.
This studio is outstanding in every way and it's the people that run it and work it that have put a smile on my face each day I wake up. Day one was with Nick aka TGO aka The Gentle One. Thank you Nick for being there on my day one back to Bikram. It was you that got me to day two. Day two was with Andie aka 99 aka The Great One. Thank you Andie for your amazing attitude and daily consideration to my practice.
Day three was with Sara aka Steinbrenner aka The Boss. Sara and her husband Jaylon are the owners and it always starts with the owners of these studios that set the tone to everything inside these 90 minute eye opening meditations. Day four was with Jaylon aka PBT aka Peanut Butter Toast. Thank you Jaylon for your insight, patience, and attitude that allows me to find myself thru this practice.
You remind me each day that hard work IS the only way to attack life. Lana, Nel, Erin and Kristy your nicknames will soon come to me. Thank you for being amazing teachers. I cant say enough about this practice and this particular studio!

I went to Bikram Yoga Portsmouth last week. It was my first attempt at Bikram, I had done some hot yoga classes and thought I was ready. I lasted about 30 minutes and had to leave. The heat is intense. That being said, the staff were extremely friendly when I walked in. I love it when the teacher is at the front desk greeting the students as they walk in.
I was given a tour of the studio and shown the best place to set up in the room. During the class the teacher kept checking in with me to make sure I was okay. When I left she came out to make sure I was okay. Although I was embarrassed to leave early, I felt so welcome that I will return when I'm ready. A week later I got a post card from the teacher with kind words and encouragement. I kind of wish they had shorter classes for new Bikram students like me.

Been practicing at this studio regularly for over a year. I love it! Bikram yoga is an amazing practice and the teachers at this studio help you change your body. The teachers are thoughtful, knowledgeable, willing to help and are enthusiastic about the practice. The studio is clean with multiple showers and bathrooms. Highly recommend!

Been coming here for years, love the feeling of accomplishment and peace after class. Reasonable prices, and student discounts. As a college student myself I try to make it to a class every break, it's always worth it. The new studio is large and very nice. They do a good job of trying to deplete the smell of sweat. Awesome staff as well, would definitely recommend.

Great group of teachers, the temperature changes a lot though from teacher to teacher. The showers (there are 2) are great even though there are a bunch of people they seem to always have enough hot water. (also there are 2 bathrooms) The locker rooms are a little open and you have no were to lock up your valuables like phone or wallet so I leave them in the car.
This place can be packed on some days and empty for other days they have great times for there classes, but still wish that they had an earlier class at maybe 430 or so because I and have to be at work by 7 it would be a great way to start my day. They do a great $10 for 10 days starter rate that is great, and there prices are not to bad either.

My husband and I were in town visiting Portsmouth for Thanksgiving. By friday we were in desperate need of a Bikram yoga class. We attended the 4:30 class that afternoon. It was one of the best parts of our trip. The studio was brand new and beautiful. The carpet was super clean and the heating and air filtration system was a perfect temp. The greatest part of the whole experience was our teacher Terry.
You could tell she is a seasoned veteran with great insight. I learned so much about my practice in just one class. I wish I lived closer so I could take her class all the time, too bad I live all the way in San Diego. Thank you so much!

This Bikram studio is really great! They offer around 5 classes each day, so you can always make it. They have quality teachers that kick your butt and are very helpful with adjustments and learned my name in about a week! I haven't had one class in the past month that hasn't delivered on heat and quality. Watch out for Terry's classes, she likes it hot and really pushes you (which is great, by the way). Only downside: parking can get harry and there is only one shower.

I have been practicing bikram for a few years and was excited to visit this studio in Portsmouth, I've heard great things! However, I was disappointed. I would go there again if I had no other options for a Bikram class but that's it. The heat was good, so I give it 3 stars for that. My biggest complaint is the lack of bathrooms, one bathroom and one shower for an entire studio?
At over 100 dollars a month for a membership, there should be more money flowing through this place to put some more facilities in. The instructor banged loudly on the door and yelled at my friend in the shower, she had been in for about 2.5 minutes and yelled "two minute shower!". Yelling and banging on a door? That soured my experience to the max! I've visited many studios around the country, the whole having one shower stall for an entire studio is really ridiculous.
You can claim to "be green" all you want but when Bikram costs that much, there should be more than one shower and one toilet in there. Good heat in the yoga room, a little noisy on the devices to turn it up or down when the instructor had to adjust. Because of the instructor banging on the bathroom door and shouting and the lack of bathroom/shower facilities I will probably not visit this studio again unless I have no other options.

Make sure you hydrate well the day before and the day of. If you've never gone to a hot yoga workout before, be prepared to sweat. They should tell you to stay close to the door or a part of the room that isn't as hot if you aren't used to the practice. The heat will make you sweat and this combined with the stretches will flush a lot of toxins out of your system - which may initially make you feel worse after your first session.
Both I and the guy next to me had beads of sweat dripping off our noses when I went - so bring a towel. :) I'm only giving this 3 stars as the one time I went was a year or two ago. It was my first time at a hot yoga studio but not my first time in a yoga class. I really enjoy yoga and I was hoping to make this a new home for my practice. During class, I was having problems with one of the poses (I have some minor foot and ankle issues, particularly on one foot which limits my flexibility) and I was doing my best to get into position - stretching.
The instructor saw the look on my face as I eased into a stretch and started chiding the room in general "not to get frustrated". He did this several times, pointedly and rather loudly. It shifted the feeling in the room, which had been relaxing up until this point. I wasn't making noise, and I wasn't frustrated - I was trying to ease into the stretch given some underlying foot issues.
The whole thing made me feel very uncomfortable. I was coming to yoga to try and improve my flexibility and felt like I was getting yelled at for not already being flexible and having feelings assigned to me that I did not have. I didn't want to disrupt the class so I didn't say anything but went up to the instructor after class to ask about ways to possibly improve my flexibility on that side.
He basically dismissed me and told me to "keep coming to yoga" without listening to my concerns about possibly injuring my ankle due to the tightness on that side. I didn't expect doctor level advice, but someone not even noting my concern about pain and dismissing me was a bit aggravating. I haven't been back since. It's a shame though as without that incident I probably would have become a regular. Edited to add: I suspect if my interaction with this instructor had been my first experience of a yoga class, I would not have continued with it. The instructor was just not reading the class right, and it lead to an uncomfortable session.
