Services
A private session is an opportunity to work with an instructor one-on-one to focus on personal wants, needs, issues, etc. During a private session a teacher will begin with questions and discussion to determine what the needs of the client are. This enables the teacher to provide instruction to assist the client in the direction they want to go in.
Welcome to the Yoga on Main Teacher Trainings and course offerings page. We are the oldest yoga studio in Philadelphia having offered teacher training courses for over 25 years. Our courses are steeped in tradition and deeply connected to the ancient practices that come from India. We offer certifications in 200 Hour Teacher Training courses and 300 Hour Teacher Training courses through the organization of The Yoga Alliance. We also offer Ayurveda certification courses through the American Institute of Vedic Studies.

Been coming here for over eight years, and what keeps me coming back is their Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series class on Sunday morning (9:45 am, led by Jean Schaller). For years I did yoga at my gym (Future Fitness/AFC), but once I did a full primary series I was hooked. It's challenging, but my flexibility is so improved now it's incredible.
I used to suffer from back and neck pain but the poses are so well-designed and therapeutic that I no longer have problems and overall have never felt better! They have many other great classes too, but for me Ashtanga is the best fit. Note that the new location is totally modern and has hardwood floors.

This is a great studio. They have a lot of great teachers who know what they're doing. My favorite has been Kiki - she does a very challenging but rewarding class with a sense of humor! Their prices are pretty good too. I would have liked more evening classes instead of being stuck with just the one they have every evening. If you can't make it then you're out of luck. Other than that, great studio!

My first visit to YOM was a 90minute class with Shiva Das-- the man has a warm, welcoming presence and an endearing, yet challenging style of teaching that I thoroughly enjoyed! The room is large and comfortable and the music was gently playing in the background I live in SJ but will visit again when I can. Om

Last winter I gave my girlfriend classes to Yoga On Main as a present (she had just moved to East Falls, and I was still living in Boston). She was somewhat less than thrilled, not having ever enjoyed a yoga class. But she started going, and discovered that she loved most of the classes they offer. When I finally moved down here I started going too, and I have to say that Kiki's tuesday intermediate class is one of the best I've ever been to.
Her voice and presence exude a sense of grounded-ness, and her class is just challenging enough to help keep your mind focused. If you're used to doing yoga in a gym the incense, statues, and some chanting may seem a little strange. Personally, the studio strikes a good balance between a purely physical activity and going too far into the mystical.

Love Yoga On Main! I've always wondered about this place. And, I admit I was one to go the Bikram yoga places. But, I've been convinced that those places are what the hard core yogis called 'gym yoga'. It feels like a chore when I go to Bikram yoga. Here I never feel like that and I see and feel a difference in my body. There is no pressure here.
The teachers integrate yoga in their lives are approachable and welcome any of your questions. They are doing the moves with you and not just talking and walking around. They know what they are talking about and give great advice! I like the Kundalini Yoga class and Inner Fire Yoga. I feel really relax when I leave and not sore in the joints. Though, it is on the pricey end. I have one of their specials and I'm waiting to see what they have for September. Can't wait to go!

I got the unlimited one month membership- it was half price this month ($54). I absolutely love all of the teachers, I've done around 10 classes and havent had a bad experience. I especially like the Tuesday night intermediate class with Kiki. shes awesome. The only reason why I didnt give a 5 star review is the pricing. $15/class is a little steep. Usually I pay around $10 to $12 for a 90 minute class in the Philadelphia area.

I had never taken a yoga class in my life. I decided to give it a go last Saturday morning with the Inner Fire class. It was $14/class with my student id, you can just start classes whenever too. I patiently waited in the yoga room while the others came in and set up. Luckily another woman started talking to me since I was a newbie and she explained how it all worked etc. so I felt better after that.
All in all it wasn't that confusing nor did I feel out of place or like I was doing everything wrong. The class was 1 1/2 hours long and one of the most relaxing things I've done in a LONG time. I highly recommend it! Howver I am looking for something a bit more exercise oriented and as far as I can see Yoga on Main doesn't offer a Power Yoga class.
