A Modern World Acupuncture Clinic

I prepaid sessions and now the Mission Valley location is closed and has been closed for at least 2 months. The Del Mar location is not an option for me as I live in El Cajon and can't afford the gas to get there. I have sent two emails to corporate requesting a refund of the sessions I prepaid and haven't been able to use and no one is responding to me. Has anyone else had the same problem?

Took my wife to this location as we have done since it opened. She has paid to get package deals that run around $150 for three to five sessions. On Saturday we came for her appointment. She noticed the appointment was only twenty minutes in length. When she went to make another appointment the girl at the counter tried to charge her for the session and charge her for the "Glow" facial treatment which we have never paid for in the past.

My wife had to remind the girl that she still had a session from her package deal. When my wife inquired about the "Glow" charge she was told there are new owners and they charge $25 which my wife paid. Then they tried to sell her another package of three sessions for $225 for three twenty-minute sessions. Whoever the new owners are they should know they lost a loyal customer by increasing the prices by a huge amount along with cutting the time of the service.

I don't know who these people are but they would be better served if they fired the front counter girl, stopped trying to jerk their customers around with less service for more money, and go back to how it was before. Or they can keep having empty chairs in a time when money is tight for most people. What a ripoff.

It has been a while since I've been to this place, and I'm so glad I was able to go back there. Every time I finish a session, I've felt calm and relaxed. It's always a pleasure to go there and leave there feeling fantastic.

Went in today for my very first intro to Acupunvture, had some back pain due to physical work as a General Contractor. The pain GONE, unbelievable. Made me a true believer of this Art. If you a want a clean professional environment and you won't be disappointed with the professionalism of the acupuncturist or the constant happy smiles that meet you at the desk. Jenn and Heather are awesome and. This is a woman owned company Candace and her Mother Jolie are the best! I signed up for the biggest plan. Great results! Highly recommend

I always have the best experience here. If you are afraid of needles or haven't tried acupuncture. This is a fantastic place to start. It's clean, relaxing and has a spa like ambiance. This short treatment will revive and invigorate you unlike anything else! The health benefits are incredible. For those seasoned veterans you will find this place so much more relaxing than your typical clinic.

Leather reclining chairs with heat and massage. Tranquil videos and music. Somber lighting all set the mood for the most relaxing experience. The membership programs are reasonable and so pro active in getting you on track to a stress free, productive day! Can't say enough about this place!

I am giving the service I received 5 stars. Susan took really good care of me and checked in on me to make sure I was ok. She was careful with her needle placement and took her time to make sure everything was set and good. However a huge downside to my appointment came at the front desk. I initially came in for treatment due to a lot of pain from a pre existing injury.

All I wanted was to be treated so I could go home and rest. At reception I was held up to be told about all the packages and supplements. I didn't feel comfortable being blunt and saying I wanted to just pay and leave. But I feel as though reception could be a little better at reading the room. Although I understand up-selling and proving this info is part of the job maybe it's one that can be rethought and the info can be sent via email to clients after their appointment. Receptions tone also changed dramatically when I said I wasn't interested at the moment.

As a business please keep in mind the times that we are in, it's understandable that as a business you need and want to make more sales but understand that clients like me won't be likely to return when up-sales are pushed onto us.

I love this place! Everything about this place says professional. Always friendly and very savvy in all aspects of accupuncture. I got the unlimited plan so I can get the full benefit of accupuncture. Dr Sandy is a great addition to the team. Never a bad session. Always leave in a different state of mind

I'm beyond impressed! This is an entire experience. Everyone is so pleasant from the front desk to the doctors, the entire place is zen! white noise, scenic earth on the tv, calm music, low lighting, comfy massage chair, and tea after! Truly a great time. Signed up for a month of unlimited because I want to be there everyday LOL!

Pretty disappointed right now. We purchased a package for my daughter, then received an email that our particular location was shutting down. But not to worry because we could use it up at any of their other locations. They ended up closing ALL of their locations, and now we are out that money and no way to make good on the visits. VERY unhappy, to say the least! I would give zero stars if I could.

I went to this place on 2/28/2020 then decided to to sign up for only 1 month that they were offering. Yesterday, I checked my credit card and found that they've been charging me $79.00 in end of March and end of April. Mind you, they are closed also which is expected however meanwhile, they decided to keep charging me monthly for something I never signed up for.

What a shame! Service was great when I went in February and the owner seemed really nice so I didn't expect them to charge me for something I never signed up for monthly. I only purchased one month which I have yet to use since CovId19 shelter in place was mandated. This is a warning. Please check your account/credit card to make sure they aren't charging you for anything you didn't sign up for. Updated to reply to Claire's comment: Claire, that's the thing I never signed for a monthly ongoing membership.

I only wanted one month (March). Ask Candace P. She's the one who I talked to. I'm disputing it with my credit card and they said you guys have not responded to their calls or emails.

Modern Acupuncture Mission Valley in San Diego keeps illegally charging my credit card $99 on the 13th of every month. On or about November 12, 2019, was the last time I was there. My wife and I never entered or signed a contract for a monthly plan. And every month I need to call the Mission Valley clinic for a refund and this month (March 14, 2020) we were told Modern Acupuncture doesn't process refunds over the phone.

But yet they are able to charge my credit card without consent and authorization. This has become an inconvenience and disturbing that they don't know the issue. This is unacceptable and illegal that they continue to charge my credit card for a third month. I have considered filing a police report.

My body has been in pieces lately and the combination of pain and a constant sense of uncomfortableness has led me from doctor to doctor and now down the path of something less western. This review is not yet for the results, but rather for my initial experience. While tucked away in one of the less savory shopping malls in San Diego, Modern Acupuncture brings a certain level of refined class.

The lobby is classy yet unassuming but the big door is undeniable and hard to miss. Behind that door is the common space, dimly lit, and lined with the zero gravity massage chairs. This is where you quietly wait and after a review of your intake sheet the treatment begins after a series of confirmation questions. I hope that my pain eventually leaves me due to the acupuncture, but until that happens, the result of a very sound night sleep and a complimentary (and truly delicious) hot tea on my way out was enough to get me started off on the right foot.

Ok- this is definitely a "5" star review. This was my 1st Acupuncture experience. I had no idea what to expect. The experience was A+ in how I was respected and the overall acupuncture experience with front advisor (Jen) & acupuncturist (Ashley) was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. This well excceeded any expectations and a great value! Also, I felt amazing afterwards. Thank you! Definitely give it a try

1)This was my first time having acupuncture in my entire life. Jenna made me feel so comfortable and relax. She was so professional and informative through out the whole process. she was so gentle and knowledgeable. I wish we had one modern Acupuncture in Atlanta and also one Jenna. Also, Jen at the front reception desk was so Delightful. She was so pleasant and professional Too.

I took already couple of session here to treat my neck and back pain and it definitely works! Jenna was my acupuncturist both times and she is excellent! Super gentle and knowledgeable. I am definitely going to keep coming back to her. I highly recommend it.

I've been going here for a couple of weeks with jaw pain, plus visiting a chiropractor. This pain has been killing me for months and it is finally feeling better! I really love visiting. Their facilities are really clean, comfortable, and spa like. Although you are in a shared space, it is still very relaxing in the zen den. I'd recommend this place for sure.

Omg! Wtf did I just paid $29 bucks for and they didn't do shit! Not even worth it!

Here is an update: I received a response from someone who works there. they were obviously not pleased with my review. My review was honest and they just need to learn to move forward with negative criticism. Here is the response from one of their employees. "Taylor - if you have an issue just ask to speak with Candace - she can assist you and make sure you do not feel like you are being locked into something you do not want.as for it being a Scam - I think you need to educate yourself on the real def of a Scam because in reality your review kinda looks like one."

I've been seeing Jenna for years now for a number of different reasons ranging from back pain due to being a hairstylist and with needing it for stress because life is hard. She is incredibly knowledgeable and her energy is the best! Thank you for always being there for me! I will continue to always count on you for the good vibes! Go see Jenna!

This was my first time doing acupuncture and was very pleased. This place is as clean as it gets with a very sophisticated and pleasant vibe. I think a lot of that has to do with the aesthetics of the store as well as the friendly/helpful staff. I was greeted by Jen at the front counter who was very nice and she helped me get oriented with signing up and also helped me choose which tea I would like for after my session :) The session itself was done by Jenna, licensed and pro from head to toe.

She walked me through what acupuncture is all about and what to expect during the session. They have some very relaxing music playing with stunning visuals of nature to enjoy during your session. Comfy chairs too. Jenna assessed my situation (localized pain) and treated me. I walked out of there feeling rejuvenated and ready to work out. Great spot in the convenience of a mall setting. My first experience with Modern Acupuncture and (any acupuncture for that matter) was really great! Everyone was very friendly and professional. The zen room was super relaxing and the acupuncturist was very informative. The days after my visit I got some amazing sleep! Can't wait to go back.

I love Modern Acupuncture, the staff is so nice and the environment is so peaceful, relaxing, and clean. They give you yummy tea after every session and you always leave feeling so much better and relaxed. Kya is my favorite Acupuncturist and Makenzie in the front is so nice and greets you with a warm smile every time.

Never having acupuncture before this, I was a bit nervous. The staff there is very helpful in educating about the benefits. My allergies have gotten MUCH better since my first treatment. FYI- they told me 25 acupuncture needles fit in a regular shot needle. they are so small!
