Certain smells float around us more often to dust off musty memories that were stored away like sweaters during warmer months. Cinnamon and apples, citrus, crisp woodlands, and. Autumn - the time of harvest.The equinox has come and gone, signaling longer nights and more relief from the arid Texas Summer. The shift of seasons has kicked in a creative streak in me, and I have been playing around with plants and potions fit for the colder months and holiday season.

My particular philosophy of herbalism includes the belief that what we need for our food, medicine and well being, grows within the plants of our own environment. It is fine to import herbs from China or Europe, if you wish, but we need not do that. We can learn to grow herbs that are well adapted to our environment and learn how to use them.
