As taught in ancient practice and confirmed by the latest science, all parts of your body are interconnected. Acupuncture harnesses your body's elegant feedback systems such as the autonomic nervous system to invoke healing and well being. It's time to bridge the divide between modern medicine and ancient practice.
Bee venom acupuncture therapy ameliorates neuroinflammatory alterations in a pilocarpine-induced epilepticus model. I'm drawn to these studies using Bee venom. Somehow it makes sense to me that by using bee venom you enhance the effect of acupuncture by giving a toxin that we evolved with over the millenia.
I had allergies my whole life and had to leave my Anesthesiology career because of them. During my Acupuncture training, I had two series of Acupuncture treatments for my allergies which included atopic dermatitis, allergic rhinitis, and asthma. I was amazed when my allergies disappeared.* Acupuncture has been so valuable to me and my family that I made it my career. Over the years I've developed my own protocols to help patients with allergies, and have become fascinated with the science behind it.
Do you suffer from asthma? You might want to give my treatments a try. I use a number of time-honored points and then some culled from the various studies that have been completed over the years to get maximum results. And the results can be quite impressive, as you see in the case below. Recent guidelines from the Taskforce on Allergies from the Society for Ear, Nose and Throat specialists recommend acupuncture for patients who desire or require natural treatment for allergies. There have been some studies that suggest some physiological reasons why acupuncture might help in cases of asthma.

I love going to see Dr. Sparrow. She is an MD that practices eastern medicine so often I feel like I'm getting the best of both worlds. I started seeing her for acupuncture to treat my allergies about 3 years ago and it's changed my life. I used to take 4 prescriptions a day to treat asthma and allergies because they were so bad. I now take nothing but the occasional over the counter treatment on really bad days.
My organs are so happy! Dr. Sparrow is thoughtful, always striving to improve her treatments and your health by doing personal studies on what is working. She's really personable and easy to talk to about your situation - she's become a delightful friend.

I've been seeing Dr. Sparrow for 2 months now and my experience has been incredible! I've seen a huge improvement with the health issue I've been dealing with, and no other doctor or western medical approach helped. Plus, Kristen is an incredibly cool person and it's very enjoyable to be a patient of hers. I highly, HIGHLY recommend her!

Before being referred to Dr. Sparrow, migraines had just become a part of life. There was no way around them, they were inevitable, you just had to get ahead of them. My main goal was to just lower the frequency of migraines, I never thought not refilling a prescription for imatrex, or not having a migraine for a month would be a reality. Rewind 6+ months - multiple migraines per month that would just knock me out, consistently refilling an imatrex prescription.
Fast forward to present day - I have been completely migraine free for the past two months, and my pharmacy is now calling me to see if I still need my prescription that I haven't needed to fill in the past 4. Dr. Sparrow's knowledge and skill has absolutely changed a big part of my life. I no longer worry about when a migraine is going to hit, for how long or if i have enough medication with me.
I can't speak highly enough about what she and her practice has done for me. I would recommend Dr. Sparrow to anyone!. If you are even sightly considering acupuncture, give it a try!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Sparrow. I have suffered from debilitating migraines my entire adult life, and this year began getting them on a biweekly basis. It was effecting my job, personal life, health and well being. Upon the recommendation of my boyfriend, whom Dr. Sparrow successfully treated for allergies, I made an appointment for acupuncture feeling helpless and desperate. Flash forward three months, and I have not had *a single migraine* since we began treatment.
It feels like a miracle, but it's not-it's Dr. Sparrow's treatments. Her insight and knowledge of migraines far exceeds anything I have experienced with western medical doctors. She is pleasant, caring, and exceptionally good at what she does. What a refreshing departure from being handed a prescription and vague explanation for my condition.
Her acupuncture treatments have honestly changed my life. I look forward to my appointments, and as a bonus feel incredibly relaxed and centered afterwards. Her office space is beautiful and calming, and her efficient and caring approach to her practice is a joy. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Sparrow!

As I took a long walk today enjoying this AMAZING Indian Summer, I thanked God that I could enjoy walking in the sunshine. And then I realized it was not God I should thank, but Dr Kristen Sparrow that I should be thanking! I suffered from sciatic nerve pain down both my legs for three years until I found Dr. Kristen Sparrow. Twice yearly epidurals and pain medication couldn't get the pain down my legs to subside and I was headed into surgery.
As a last ditch effort I decided to try acupuncture. I learned that my insurance would cover it if I found an MD. I found Dr. Sparrow via reading her Yelp reviews and figured, why not give her a try. After the first set of visits, I had some improvement and after several weeks my pain was GONE! I am happy to report that was almost two years ago. So Dr. Kristen Sparrow, THANK YOU for enabling me to enjoy this beautiful day PAIN FREE! XO!

I sought out Dr. Sparrow's practice for help with my PMS/menopausal symptoms. The acupuncture definitely helps. Dr. Sparrow addresses my issues each month, as needed. She is always attentive, and strives to do her best work at each session. I never feel rushed and I feel like she gives you as much time and treatment as you need at each session. I would highly recommend her!

I came across Dr. Sparrow's website and found that she can help with many different health issues. I decided to start seeing her for allergies. I have seasonal, dust, and cat allergies (yet I HAVE a cat, go figure, lol) and after 3 visits with her, they were considerably better! I had been practically dependent upon Benadryl and now I rarely take it. I'm continuing to see her, because each and every time (today was my 5th visit), it gets better and better!
Not only that, but I feel such peace and relaxation afterward. It's amazing what acupuncture can do for your spirit and general well-being! She is a wonderful, caring medical doctor with a background in pediatrics and anesthesiology. Her space is beautiful and calming. She presents a professional experience and friendly atmosphere. It's a joy seeing her and I highly recommend her! Sidenote: I have had acupuncture in the past for an ankle injury. Comparatively, I'm grateful to have an open mind and that I gave acupuncture another chance, because Dr. Sparrow is far and beyond BETTER than Dr. What's-his-name.

I contacted Dr. Sparrow for alternative treatment when traditional medicine failed to address some of my issues. Her professionalism and calm demeanor while discussing my health assured me that I had come to the right place. I am a professional hand draftsman and have worked leaning over a drafting table for decades. Dr. Sparrow's treatments loosened my neck and relieved tension that I had not even realized was there. Subtle sounds of the city along with the silhouetted city views faded away during my treatment because I felt as if I had been transported to a healing retreat. I highly recommend Dr. Kristen Sparrow. Samuel L

Dr. Sparrow's practice was my first introduction to acupuncture, and what a great place to start. I went in because I was having trouble managing my high blood pressure, despite medication and a healthy lifestyle. A friend mentioned that acupuncture might help and after some googling I lucked upon Dr. Sparrow's practice and immediately set up an appointment. I'm happy to report that my high blood pressure is under control again, and consistently so between monthly appointments. Dr. Sparrow is very professional, skilled at putting you at ease, and her office is a very relaxing place to be. I look forward to my appointments and feel fantastic afterward. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to anyone interested in acupuncture.

I started going to Dr. Sparrow initially for chronic ankle aches that hobbled me at night. After several treatments I was no longer suffering evening and morning discomfort. I was incredible impressed with the time Dr Sparrow devoted to my medical history, my personal well being and treatment. She is a knowledgable, competent, highly trained physician with a compassionate nature.
She easily bridges Eastern and Western medicine tailoring advice to each patient according to their needs. I have since been treated by Dr. Sparrow for facial rejuvenation and intermittent back pain. I recommend her without reserve.

I am so happy to be able to write a review for something I truly believe in! I found Dr. Sparrow by all of her fabulous reviews on line. I am happy to be one of those great reviews now! I went there with acne issues, stress, sleep problems, etc. She sits with you going over everything going on with you in and out. I felt like she was really listening to my issues.
She recorded on my personal file everything I wanted to work on. I was very impressed with the cleanliness, tranquility and design of the room. You lie down and she puts the needles in but you cannot even feel them! Knowing she used to be an anesthesiologist for babies I felt pretty comfortable with the process. I instantly fell asleep! I felt so good when I left.
Pretty soon after my acne went away and I go to sleep with out any racing thoughts and don't really get stressed out at all The only problem is I didn't know about her sooner! I am so happy now and stress free. She is the best!

My MD recommended trying Dr. Sparrow when I asked about acupuncture for migraine headaches and I am so glad I went. After the first two treatments, my headaches were gone. Plus she also recommended some minerals to take. I would much rather have acupuncture treatments for migraines than take the scary pharmaceuticals that are now available, and I will call her again if my headaches return. Highly recommended for anyone who suffers from migraines, plus she is a friendly doctor as well, with a caring manner.

I first went to Dr. Sparrow for acupuncture because in addition to being a licensed acupuncturist, she is also a M.D. (which my insurance required). I was having circulation problems in my feet and pain related to a nagging foot fracture -- she did a thorough job of assessing the problems and explaining the solutions while having a friendly bedside manner.
My circulation greatly improved after the predicted period of treatments, to the point where I no longer needed further sessions. Since I had such great results with that first round of visits, I recently went back to Dr. Sparrow for acupuncture to address other issues. I've been to other acupuncturists here in the city, but I'm most impressed with Dr. Sparrow because her rates are very reasonable, she has a staff that can bill your insurance to see if they will pay for anything, and I also find her joint Chinese medicine and Western medicine training invaluable in using every angle to address the problem.

I started going to Kristen based on a recommendation of a friend, and I was a bit skeptical that acupuncture would be efficacious. In the year I that I was her patient, I never once caught any of the variety of illnesses running rampant in my office. I just felt that my immune system was stronger and that her counsel on different matters helped me to stay healthy.
I particularly appreciated that her medical training as a doctor informed her Chinese medicine practice and that she was always patient and caring enough to address my concerns and interests. One of the things I found most endearing about Kristen that she's always striving to further her training. I would still love to be her patient if we lived in the city.

Acupuncture is real, and so is Dr. K Sparrow. I'd been wanting to try Acupuncture for quite some time but had always hesitated. My concern was not with the treatment itself - there is a ton of clinical evidence showing beyond any reasonable doubt acupuncture as safe and effective against a number of conditions. My problem was finding a practitioner I could trust.
For an MD, a valid medical license implies at least a very basic level of competency. I'd like the same assurance about someone with really needles who is going to be using me as a pin cushion. I got that assurance from Dr. Sparrow. Not so much from Dr Sparrow's acupuncture background, which I don't have the knowledge to evaluate (she finished a four year Spanish program in three years), but from the fact that she is an MD double boarded in Anesthesiology and Pediatrics, and a former Kaiser physician.
I realize none of these things guarantee a great acupuncturist but they suggest great interest, rigor, contentiousness and of course background training that can only help. In my eight sessions I found Dr. Sparrow to be all that. While I can't compare her to other practitioners in the field, I do feel confident that she can deliver pretty much everything the art has to offer.
I was also utterly charmed given her background when she commented that if the acupuncture didn't work for me I should "see a real doctor." The National Institutes of Health's National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) says that acupuncture relieves pain and helps minimize nausea after chemotherapy or anesthetic. It's also apparently useful for treating addiction, headache, menstrual cramps, fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, low back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome and asthma. Dr. Sparrow has a similar list on her website at http://www.ksparrowmd.com/ Side effects are minimal so you won't get hurt trying acupuncture, but its not a magic bullet and there is no guarantee of success, especially if used to treat conditions its not proven effective against.
The amount of pain you feel will depend on what's being treated and the location of the needles, in my experience it ranged from literally nothing (the classic "is it in?") to a very mild hypodermic shot. Cost is $75/session, though I believe it can be a little lower with some insurance plans. When I first contacted Dr. Sparrow by email the message was spam-filtered out so I suggest initial contact by phone.
