Structural Integration is a hands-on healing modality that establishes balance and support in the muscular-skeletal system by deep manipulation of fascia. Fascia is a connective tissue that invests superficially over the entire body like a stocking and deeply throughout separating muscles, organs, and covering blood vessels and nerves. It also has an important function of support. Fascia is laid down in a multiple directional fashion that creates an environment of balanced tension within the skeletal structure. Because it is a network of tissue, any disruption to the body from accidents/injuries, postural weakness or stress, will ripple into the body and begin a distortion of joint function and muscle shortening as compensation.
When this happens, we lose muscle length/strength or energy, fluidity of movement and vitality. Structural Integration works to release these harmful patterns through deep manual manipulation of the fascia and joint mobilization. We are trying to re-structure the body and improve posture that isn't held up by force, but is balanced through the whole body. Structural Integration begins by first assessing the shape and contour of our extrinsic image and also viewing certain movements to see where a deviation occurs in the joint system. The treatment follows a series of 10 sessions, each with a specific goal of ordering the body slowly over time and to allow for structural adjustments. The process of Structural Integration can be challenging, there is firm contact during the sessions and some discomfort can be experienced.
This is a brief moment of tissue change however, and the result can be a life without pain or stiffness. Your body awareness and condition of health sometimes eludes the conscious mind, so we are trying to bring your attention to a most wonderful art form, the human body. The wisdom of Structural Integration is that we are revealing the life force and the innate healing mechanism that everyone possesses by freeing the body of strain and guiding the natural ordering of structure. The benefits from Structural Integration are: improved flexibility, muscular/skeletal pain relief, better breathing, efficient posture, accident/injury recovery, improve yoga practice, anti-aging and beauty enhancement, compliment to physical therapy, chiropractic and massage therapy.

Massage Therapy has a "user-friendly" quality that will always yield a positive outcome, it can be soothing and relaxing or more vigorous and stimulating. Massage Therapy focuses on improving blood flow into and out of muscular tissue by applying light to medium pressure to the muscles in a rhythmic motion using the hands and arms. Our massage programs range from light, soothing Swedish massage to Deep Tissue massage which uses a firmer pressure to access the deep layers of muscular tension and improve joint range of motion.
