Dr. Ackerman grew up in New York then moved to Florida at age 13. He attended the University of Florida for his Undergraduate Degree and received a B.S. in Business and Marketing in 1986. After realizing chiropractic was his true goal, Dr. Ackerman went to Life Chiropractic College, graduating in 1990 with a D.C. (Doctor of Chiropractic).
In dealing with the vertebral subluxation complex, it is important for the Gonstead Chiropractor to thoroughly examine the spine before adjusting it. In order to give a specific adjustment, the Gonstead Chiropractor first needs to find the specific locations of the subluxations. Most people do not realize that infants and children are just as much in need of chiropractic care as adults. Infants, in particular, are susceptible to a wide range of possible ailments related to slow or traumatic birth and c-sections. Misalignments or subluxations put pressure on the delicate spinal nerves and interfere with the body's ability to coordinate and control all phases of growth and development.
We have coined the term "Modern Acupuncture" as an understandable way to describe what Cold Laser Therapy is! It is essentially Acupuncture, without the painful needles. Generally, Acupuncture is performed by damaging the skin in specific points of the body to treat many different conditions. However, most people are not a fan of the painful needles that are involved, and are, therefore, against trying acupuncture.

Polite and professional environment. Was having issues with a damaged ligament that wasn't responding to other treatments. Sam Ackerman listened attentively to my needs and treated me with care. This ligament has been damaged for 8 months and I can already feel some real improvement after my very first Cold Laser Therapy session. Highly recommend this treatment and practice Edit: 2 months later my ligament is fully healed with no pain. Wow I have no words. Never thought one treatment could be so effective. BEST chiropractor! My family and I have been seeing Dr. Scott for nearly ten years. We pass numerous other chiropractors as we cross town because the extra drive is absolutely worth it. With a very busy schedule in our family, carving time out to go has blessed our lives and health tremendously. Highly highly recommend. I go in with a headache and come out without. Can't beat that.

This was my first visit to a chiropractor in several years. I have been treated by a number of them in the past but I could tell it was time to get adjusted again. Visited Ackerman Chiropractic Center and was very impressed. Appointment was available quickly. The approach to chiropractic is what I prefer. And Dr. Scot took the time to understand my particular needs and went right to my problem areas. I like the fact too that the doctor clearly understood my very complex health issues.
