One of the nation's leading advocates and practitioners of East/West integrated medicine now practices acupuncture orthopedics pain relief in Woodland Hills in California's San Fernando Valley. Orthopedics is one of the most widely accepted applications of this ancient Chinese art. Orthopedics is simply the treatment of problems with the muscles, tendons, and bones.
Services
Dr. Gu's particular usage of his fine education favors the integration of the best of Western orthopedics and the profound pain control benefits of acupuncture treatments. While acupuncture is the most famous and interesting Chinese treatment that we think of in the West, Dr. Gu actually favors the use of another uniquely Chinese massage therapy called "Tui Na".

If you're lucky enough to be reading this review you have come to the right place. Dr. Gu and Dr. Vu are the real thing. I came to them because I was having a lot of back pain and various other misalignments and after Every visit with them I saw an immediate improvement. They are gentle and professional.

Dr Gu is very professional, knowledgable and goes above and beyond for his patients. I moved away, and I really miss being able to visit his practice for acupuncture, as I found that he helped me so much! He also provided me with some dietary/lifestyle advice to alleviate some of my symptoms and to improve my immune system overall! 5 Stars!

Can't say enough good things about Dr. Gu. I have degenerative discs in my neck and back and while acupuncture isn't a cure, it DEFINITELY helps with flare-ups or when my back goes out. I've been seeing Dr. Gu for years and he's always been a huge help. Genuinely cares and knows his stuff. On the rare occasion that he wasn't available, I've seen other acupuncturists who are always impressed to hear that I see Dr. Gu regularly, saying that he's one of the best there is. Highly recommend him.

Terrible. Really poor service. Staff personnel didn't bother to call back about benefits 2 days in a row. I confirmed my appt. w/ Dr. Gu 1 day prior and morning of and got to the office to find out they had me for an appt. w/ Dr. Vu 2 hours later. Waited an hour while staff person called my insurance co. regarding benefits. She never looked up from computer to look at me while speaking to me and insisted she didn't know who confirmed my appointment or said they would call back regarding benefits even though the call came from that office the morning of and she was the only one there. If I could 0 stars, I would. Can't speak about Dr. because staff prevented my appointment.

This man knows his stuff. I came to see him on a recommendation from my primary care doctor. I must say I was a bit hesitant on acupuncture after reading stories of how people badly reacted to it the first time they had it done. But, Dr. Gu changed my thinking completely. The first time I had acupuncture done I was incredibly calm. Even more calm than any meds that I have been on.
I wanted to go home & meditate more. He put me on some Chinese herbs that has helped me. I am a firm believer in acupuncture. It has made me more calm. This is a basic need for me before dealing with insanity. I went to see Dr. Gu before dealing with family, & I was incredibly calm when I saw my family. Many times have I gone in with menstrual pain, & Dr. Gu puts the needle in the right place. And the pain is gone. I regret not seeing him sooner. Plenty of parking. Easy access to the clinic. Right off of Winnetka & Ventura.

I know most people are over the moon with this spot, but I didn't experience the same level of healing for which I was hoping. I saw Dr. Hoang Vu for my chronic neck and shoulder pain. I didn't really see any improvement in my neck, though I did see some relief with my shoulder. This is only the 2nd acupuncturist I've worked with, so m experience is limited.
That being said, my first acupuncturist took more time to place the needles; she made an effort to try to get the needle in the perfect place to cause the 'electrical-type feeling' of the muscle releasing. In my experiences with Dr. Vu, he put the needles in pretty quickly and I never got that muscle release feeling. We tried the electrical stimulation a couple times, too, though it didn't seem to help.
The tui na 'massage' after the treatment didn't seem to do much for me either. Perhaps it's me, perhaps it's the treatment; it's hard to say for sure. I appreciate Dr. Vu's willingness to try new things to help relive my pain; I appreciate him having Saturday hours; I appreciate the relaxing music while the needles do their work.
For me, I probably won't return, as I didn't see much improvement, but, as I said, I don't know if it's due to the treatment or due to my body not being ready to heal.

I came to see the highly recommended Dr. Vu after experiencing pretty severe carpal tunnel thanks to my profession. I had given up on traditional treatments and wasn't sure that anything could help, luckily Dr. Vu worked his magic on me immediately. My hands are feeling so much better, and I can use them again without being in pain. I don't know where I would be if I hadn't found Dr. Vu when I did. Thank you Dr. Vu!

Dr. Gu is an extremely gifted acupuncturist. He was an orthopedic surgeon in China and so knows physiology. He's able to diagnose accurately. He's treated my whole family and we have all benefited from him. He's also very kind and caring. Dr Gu is one of the most renowned acupuncturists in the entire region. We are lucky to have him.

I've seen a handful of acupuncturists over the years (hey, I'm 55.a lot can happen in 55 years;) and Dr. Gu is the best I've ever encountered. He could tell by either my energy or by feeling my pulse that I had been through some pretty heavy-duty emotional trauma and some not-as-heavy-duty physical trauma and was SO gentle, never once pushed any kind of agenda, had the beside manner of nothing or no one I've ever seen.
Not one word he uttered went through me like a knife (PTSD stuff). He knew I didn't want to talk, or had a very hard time at that time, and he showed nothing but gentleness, compassion and true caring. He is what I consider to be a true master. There are many very good LAc's out there, but he is on a different level. If you've never been to an acupuncturist, he's should be your first and only stop. If you have been to any others and are curious, I'd definitely recommend him.

Honestly, I was a little skeptical about acupuncture when I first went to Dr. Gu. My wife had gone a few times and was a believer and I had a friend who swore that he fixed his shoulder so when I had an elbow injury and surgery seemed to be the only option, I decided to give him a shot. Let me tell you, he's the real deal. I'm pretty sure he's some kind of grand master in the world of acupuncture. He's genuine, extremely knowledgeable and he know's what he's doing.
My Dr said I would probably need surgery. Dr. Gu didn't think so. He told me to give him 6 weeks. I did and today my elbow is 100% with no surgery. I've gone back a few times for random injuries, pain, etc and always come away feeling better. Thanks Dr. Gu!
