Adjustments sometimes referred to as manipulations, are the minor movement of the vertebrae in the spine. The objective of this movement is to realign vertebrae that have moved out of place for a number of reasons ranging from normal daily activity to trauma, such as a car accident. When vertebra are out of place there is an overall systemic effect from the muscular system to the central nervous system. Without proper alignment and flow between the nerves and the many systems of the body, we cannot function at our peak.
After an auto accident, one of the leading causes of pain is spinal or whiplash injuries. These types of injuries must be treated properly or they could lead to chronic pain or other long-term problems. I am sure you have all met or know someone that says "ever since that accident I can't turn my head all the way".
MUA is a safe and effective technique used to restore normal range of motion and soft tissue movement while the patient is under general anesthesia. After an injury, fibrous deposits (scar tissue) are part of the normal healing process. These fibrotic deposits can lead to scarring, which can cause permanent loss in range of motion and functionality.
