Went in 2013 about June. I had some foot numbness (balls) of feet and some neuropathy in feet. After my 3rd visit I was fine until about 2am the next day. I woke up and my feet were both tingling very much and my toes were numb. Next visit I told the clinician of the problem. He did another round of needles and hooked up electric impulses and I had no change. Toes still numb.
My 5th and last visit got needled but not in my feet and the clinician said neuropathy was difficult and he couldn't help me any more. I told my doctors, even Mayo clinic and all said I don't have neuropathy in my feet and acupuncture should not have caused this toe problem. I had lower back surgery in Dec. 2013 with no effect on my feet. I may have nerve damage in lower back BUT I NEVER had a toe problem until after the acupuncture.
From my experience I cannot recommend acupuncture. A google search of numb toes after acupuncture provided info that it can happen but did not note if it was permanent. It is now 2015 and the numb toes drive me crazy with every step.
